After spending an hour or so recovering in Milliways, Jess returned to Hulk's side and kept him company through the vibranium glass of the containment unit. He was doing better but still suffering. He was lucid, at least, and knew who she was.
"We have to drop the Hulk," Iron Man was saying as he, Captain Marvel, Thor, and Captain America walked in. "He's already infected. If anyone stands a..."
"I'm sorry...we what?" Jess says, flabbergasted. Did he really just say drop the Hulk? As if he were a bomb or something?
"We're dropping the chamber to form a dam," Iron Man replied heading straight for the controls.
"Like Hell we are!" Jess replied hotly, voice rising. No way, no how was this happening on her watch. "He's still fighting for his life in there. We can't just..."
"Jessica, people are going to die!" Captain Marvel, Carol, interrupted. "We have to do this right now."
"He's not a thing!" Jess replied turning to her best friend and pushing past her to place her hands on the vibranium glass beside Hulk, who was trying to stand by this time. "We don't throw him like a frisbee. He gets to choose! He didn't decide to become the Hulk, but he gets to decide what the Hulk becomes. You choose Big Guy..."
"Hulk...choose...Avenger!"

At the villains lair
Date: 2014-03-01 01:01 am (UTC)"Heh. Heh. Heh. You think you have won?" the bad guy, Han, said. He actually had the audacity to gloat. Had to give the guy props, he had big stones. Jess, who hated a monologue gestured to Hulk in the hopes they could get this stopped before dinner.
"You may overpower this body, but you will never contain my mind. We are men of science, Mr. Stark. We meet on the battlefield of ideology," Han continued. "This is not over! The microbes have been released! You have done nothing but delay my inevitable..."
And that was when Hulk grabbed the guy's head and threw him across the room, all to Jess's delight.
"Sure looks like it's over to me," Captain America said.
"Avengers, pal. We're kind of a big deal, too."
Back home at Avengers Tower, the next morning.
Date: 2014-03-01 01:08 am (UTC)"I'm sorry, what did you say?" Banner asked as Tony reached for his zipper.
"The bet. You lost," Carol replied. "You owe use all one naked walk of shame, from the Tower to the Baxter Building...and back."
"Wait, who lost?" Banner asked still confused.
"You both did," Wolverine replied. "Bub."
"Whaaaaat?" Stark added, not seeing the logic.
"The challenge was to be the first to find Sorokin. You didn't find Sorokin..." Carol answered.
"We did." Rogers finished for her.
"Thor and I propose that as our leaders, you two should represent the losing teams," Jess argued.
"All in favor, say thee 'aye'," Thor added.
