Three ninja attacks, a daring rescue, and a run through the sewers later, Jess and the girl know as Natalie made their way to a corner coffee shop with lots of windows. Jess was gloriously happy that the bolt-hole in the subway system Fury Sr. (was that ever going to not be weird to think?) told her about was still there and still had running water. Natalie used to be eye-stingingly pungent, now she was decent. Jess had also insisted on a hair trim and new clothes as while the homeless attire worked for blending in initially, the Hand knew they were looking for a homeless person. They needed to blend in with the urban crowd, not hide in the shadows or edges.

Armed with a triple mocha and a raspberry scone, Jess steered Natalie to a table with as close to a 360 view as possible and told her to stay put and keep her eyes out. Jess had no intention of trusting the girl to be their look out but it kept the girl busy while she went to the payphone to call an old friend.

Three minutes later, she returned to the table, much to Natalie's relief. "I have a friend coming to assess the situation. He's rough around the edges and the middle, but a good man regardless."

"And don't worry, he's not government and we aren't going to make you do anything you don't want to. We'll get you out of this."

More minutes passed as they waited and tried not to look nervous; well, Natalie was trying. Jess was used to it. Still she hated waiting.
